Interactive Design Corporation (IDC) was founded to serve clients on projects which address important social values.
We approach projects with a pragmatic and collaborative attitude, guided by philosophical ideals - architecture is both art and science. We see our role as an orchestrator of the interdisciplinary design process. No matter the size of a project, small or grand, each influences its community.
Our goal is to arrive at design solutions that integrate the practical, functional and aesthetic elements and contribute to the overall enhancement of its community.
F U L F I L L M E N T
IDC is proud of its stylistic flexibility. As one size does not fit all, one architectural style does not fit all buildings. We look at the Client, the Project’s needs, and context to determine the building’s style.
The City of Palm Springs, California wanted to meet the needs of their youth with a first-class skate park. Chiseled stylistically and physically between Midcentury buildings, this modern structure utilizes contrasting colors and playfulness in heights and angles.
O U T R E A C H
IDC has worked on residential and commercial projects; however, the core of our work is special needs and affordable housing. We have been fortunate to increasingly focus our efforts on projects that support our communities.
The owners of the Warehouse at Creekside in Temecula, California brought new life to Old Town and provided affordable housing above street-level retail. The building exterior carries the city's turn-of-the-century style while using modern layouts and appliances.
I N T E R A C T I O N
True to our name, IDC was founded in 1981 with a collaborative approach to architecture. We are involved in every step of the way, allowing us to form strong relationships with our clients, consultants, and contractors.
IDC was offered the opportunity to develop a master plan for the DAP Health Campus. We are involved in multiple projects for the non-profit, such as designing the 61-unit Vista Sunrise II Apartments, new low-income special needs housing adjacent to the campus.
Without a place to call home, people cannot thrive.
IDC's mission is to create sustainable, healthy housing and communities for families, seniors and special-need people who are vulnerable and underserved. Affordable housing will always be lacking, but every new housing project brings us one step closer to putting a roof over every human being.
Humans also need supporting environments with health clinics, community centers, public facilities, and recreational spaces in order to flourish. We are proud to provide planning and architectural services to create environments allowing people equitable access to reach their potential and give back to society.
Access to sustainable, healthy housing is a basic human right. Until everyone has that access, the mission continues...

2021 - Palm Springs, California
DAP Health's main building serves as an entry point to provide direction to familiar and new patients alike. Greenery, stone, and wood are used to bring the outdoors in, a well-known strategy for improving mood and mental health.
2020 - Palm Springs, California
At the DAP Health Annex, the corridor leading to the clinics has been improved to become an airy, light-filled "boulevard", leading clients to their destinations with soaring wood canopy portals, new lighting, color-coordinated signage, and fresh finishes.

2020 - Palm Springs, California
DAP Health offers a soothing zen-like atmosphere for their patients with patient center health care model. Clinicians come to the patient for multi-disciplinary care. The vision was achieved with greens, blues, and neutrals; and warm wood finishes for bringing nature indoors. These colors tie the clinics to their corridor portals, aiding new clients in navigating.

City of Palm Springs - Firefighter Dormitory
2019 - Palm Springs, California
This Fire Station Building was designed by Midcentury Master Architect Hugh Kaptur in 1971, and has served its city for 45 years. Work included restoration of Kaptur's original adobe modern building and addition of new living quarters respecting that style, with angled plaster walls and exposed posts and beams.

2009 - La Quinta, California
A collaboration between Client, Architect, and City; La Quinta allowed for three stories, unground parking, and storm water drain off-site. This freed up ground for on-site family and children’s amenities, such as daycare center and play equipment. This project earned LEED Gold and Silver certification.
